You have found the perfect love now you need the perfect ring to match! The rise in advanced technology has resulted in new innovative ways to produce ethically sourced diamonds, all without breaking the bank. Lab diamonds are exactly the same as mined diamonds with the same chemical composition and visual properties. The only differences are the origins, one is created beneath the earth’s surface over 1-3 billion of years and the other is grown by experts in a controlled laboratory environment.

Lab diamonds are grown from diamond seeds and these seeds are put through extreme environments to quite literally ‘grow’ the carbon into a diamond form. There are two complex processes used during the production of lab diamonds, one called CVD (chemical vapour deposition) and the other High-pressure-high-temperature (HPHT), both of these methods are popularly used throughout the lab-grown diamond industry with the results being virtually the same.
Lab diamonds have an ethical origin and guilt free composition
Unfortunately the origins of most mined natural diamonds can be vague and unclear, leaving room for potential unsustainable, unethical and exploitative practices to take place to communities and the natural environment. When opting for lab created diamonds this eliminates a risk of these practices taking place as they are grown in a safe and controlled environment.
Lab diamonds don’t break the bank
Lab diamonds are more affordable than mined diamonds but this price does vary depending on the cut, clarity, colour and carat weight. Generally lab diamonds are 30% less expensive than their mined diamond counterparts. Therefore, lab diamonds are an amazing choice for someone who seeks a big rock to turn heads without the hefty price tag attached to heavy carat weight gems!
Lab diamonds are still amazing quality!
It is easier to come by purer lab diamonds than naturally mined ones, because unlike mined stones, lab created diamonds are made under strict lab settings, there is less chance of inclusions and impurities ingraining into the stone (which are simply uncrystallised carbon). Improved purity means that the diamond is poised to be brighter, more brilliant and and whiter. In fact, a large proportion of lab-grown diamonds typically receive higher purity ratings than their natural equivalents. All of Lily Arkwright’s diamonds are fully certified and accompanied by an industry standard GIA, IGI or GCAL grading report, including the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight specifications.
You cannot tell the difference
To the naked untrained eye lab diamond rings display the same sparkle as natural diamonds, making it impossible to distinguish between mined and lab created diamonds. Through proprietary faceting and cuts, lab grown diamonds reflect light in complex ways, through scintillation, brilliance and fire dispersion which give the stone that renowned sparkle that everyone loves and adores.
